AZADI is an independent publication for reporting, analysis, translation, debate and solidarity across South Asia and its connected borderlands, watersheds and diasporas.
We publish work that is rigorous about evidence, explicit about uncertainty and attentive to the material conditions in which people live and organise. We distinguish reporting from commentary, correct errors transparently and do not present rumours as established fact.
We do not require political uniformity from contributors. Disagreement is welcome when it is argued in good faith and does not reproduce racism, casteism, misogyny, queerphobia, sectarian hatred or dehumanisation.
Writers retain responsibility for their arguments. Editors are responsible for verification, clarity, accessibility, legal and safety review, and the decision to publish.
We avoid unnecessary collection of personal information. Contributors may use a pen name or withhold a precise location where publication could create risk.
